When some friends told me about their upcoming months-long trip to Nepal, I was instantly transported back to its colourful streets, thick with incense. The moment I got home, I dove into my photo archive to relive my Nepalese journey. I could almost feel the crisp mountain air filling my lungs again and hear a distant ohm<\/em>. I thought of all the stories I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d heard while I was there\u00e2\u20ac\u201dcaptivating myths, tales of supernatural beings, Buddhist sages, and Hindu gods.<\/p>\n

Originally, Nepal wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t my destination of choice. If I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d had it my way, I would\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been dancing samba and sipping caipirinhas in Rio. But I was expected on the other side of the world, so I put that dream on hold. Truth be told, I wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t particularly excited to explore Nepal. It felt like the exact opposite of what I was craving: passion, beaches, and loud, uplifting music. Peace and serenity? sounded boring. I wanted heat and movement.<\/p>\n

Looking back now, I honestly wonder who the hell I was… Who thinks that?!<\/p>\n

Nepal turned out to be a destination that surprised me in so many ways. I never once regretted going. It slowly and gently drew me in. Flipping through the pictures now, I catch myself daydreaming about going back. Not to tick off any sights\u00e2\u20ac\u201dI\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve seen most of the big ones already\u00e2\u20ac\u201dbut just to\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 be<\/em>.<\/p>\n

And if I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m lucky, maybe I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll catch another whiff of that fresh, sacred mountain air.<\/p>\n
