Bicycling amongst the ancient temples of Bagan (Myanmar)<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2928\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2928\" style=\"width: 670px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/travelcake.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/BAGAN.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2928\" src=\"https:\/\/travelcake.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/BAGAN-670x447.jpg\" alt=\"We rented some bicycles to explore the temples and pagodas of Bagan in Myanmar. To get the best light and avoid the crowds we left just after dawn and got a taste of what it must have been like for western explorers back in the days, to find these master pieces. \" width=\"670\" height=\"447\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2928\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">We rented some bicycles to explore the temples and pagodas of Bagan in Myanmar. To get the best light and avoid the crowds we left just after dawn and got a taste of what finding these masterpieces must have been like for western explorers back in the days.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>59. Wandering and climbing around Petra<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2929\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2929\" style=\"width: 670px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/travelcake.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/PETRA.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2929\" src=\"https:\/\/travelcake.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/PETRA-670x447.jpg\" alt=\"Instead of sticking to the usual route to see the main constructions of Petra, we drifted off and climbed ourselves to the &quot;outskirts&quot; of Petra. We no other tourists aroud we experienced ultimate freedom.\" width=\"670\" height=\"447\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2929\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Instead of sticking to Petra&#8217;s main tourist route to see its remains, we drifted off and climbed ourselves to the &#8220;outskirts&#8221; of the Pink City. Though it was an official campsite, we were still in the middle of the bush. Some hungry hippos came by at night and the hyena&#8217;s were laughing behind our tents.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>56. Having a naked hamam experience somewhere in Turkey<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Umm, I don&#8217;t have a picture of this&#8230; But unless you&#8217;re a bit of a prude, I do recommend going to a hammam in Turkey! Yes, you&#8217;re expected to be naked&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>55. Tasting local rum mixes on the beaches of Guadeloupe<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2932\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2932\" style=\"width: 670px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/travelcake.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/GUADELOUPE.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2932 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/travelcake.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/GUADELOUPE-670x503.jpg\" alt=\"GUADELOUPE\" width=\"670\" height=\"503\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2932\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Not only does Guadeloupe produce some fine rum, they also have tasty homemade infusions like this one: lemon, honey and cinnamon rum. Can you imagine spending the day on a caribbean beach sipping on this?! Paradise!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>54. <a title=\"What it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s like to live in Ubud, Bali\" href=\"https:\/\/travelcake.site\/what-its-like-to-live-in-ubud-bali\/\" target=\"_blank\">Finding inner peace in Bali<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2933\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2933\" style=\"width: 474px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/travelcake.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/BALI.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2933 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/travelcake.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/BALI-474x670.jpg\" alt=\"BALI\" width=\"474\" height=\"670\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2933\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I wasn&#8217;t consciously looking for it but living in Bali for a year helped me find a certain peace of mind. Having traditional Shabbat dinner in Jerusalem<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2934\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2934\" style=\"width: 670px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/travelcake.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/SHAB.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2934 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/travelcake.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/SHAB-670x447.jpg\" alt=\"SHAB\" width=\"670\" height=\"447\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2934\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">We were surprised by an Orthodox Jewish man blowing a horn on Friday afternoon in a market in Jerusalem. Shabbat was starting; according to this man&#8217;s faith, everyone needed to drop everything and close their shops immediately. He was yelling at the non-Orthodox shopkeepers, blowing the horn in their faces. It was quite an absurd sight to us, which we discussed in detail during the Shabbat dinner we were invited to.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>52. Swimming with wild dolphins in Zanzibar<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2937\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2937\" style=\"width: 670px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/travelcake.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/ZANZIBAR.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2937\" src=\"https:\/\/travelcake.site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/ZANZIBAR-670x402.jpg\" alt=\"We spotted some dolphins near the wooden fishing boat we were sailing on. I've often traveled to places with very devaluated local currency and places without ATM's. In these cases, I've had to carry lots of cash around. A hassle, for sure but on the other hand, it has allowed me to live out a childhood dream: rolling around in money like they used to do in the cartoons!
